help with my text/ call blocking on my HTC M 1 9

How to block calls and SMS on Android 6.0. I have a HTC M1 9 Thanks for any help in advance. I can't find any App's I prefer free I am on a fix income and I got crazy people text me more than calling I don't want to change my # due to the fact all my doctors my his # I am in disability & I'm going in for a total knee replacement soon.
