Hi all,

I have an old TV that I am wanting to hook up to a laptop and an audio receiver as a stopgap until I can afford to buy a better TV and a HTPC. I have recently moved over from Australia, and am not used to the SCART connector, so I was hoping someone could give me some advice.

The TV I have has one SCART connector. I would like to be able to input video from my laptop's TV out, and output audio from the TV to my audio receiver so that when I'm watching TV it will play through my speakers, rather than from the TV. Can I do this with only one SCART connector on the TV? Will something like this allow me to do it: Hama SCART Splitter?

Thanks for your help!

That cable will be of little help....

you need a cable with s-video IN and audio OUT

http://tinyurl.com/ygjrqxb - this is a SCART with s-vid in BUT no audio out

to get the audio out you need something like this - http://tinyurl.com/ygsfvlk - this gives 3 RCA inputs (2 audio and video) and the same 3 RCA outputs BUT the video in is an RCA Phono connection NOT s-video and would require an adapter

Unfortunatly I could not find an all in one cable (RCA audio & s-video IN & OUT), you could rig one together with cables and converters but it will get complex and messy!! How are you with a soldering iron and cable schem's?

Thanks alkammy,

If that cable will work, then I'm laughing... because I already have a s-video to RCA adapter, so all I need is the cable you suggested. I'll order it now.

Thanks for your help!
