Help with surround sound setup

I have a 5.1 Onkyo receiver with the five speakers and sub hooked up to it. I also have a sound bar, is there anyway to get sound out of that sound bar at the same time as the surround sound by way up the optical cable?

If you have all your sources connected to the TV you could split the optical out of the TV and connect both the soundbar and Onkyo.
I doubt using the soundbar at the same time as the 5.1 would be a good thing. It won't blend in and would throw off the surround effects. You could use either one separately this way. Just turn off the one you don't want to hear.
