Solution
It is a decent laptop assuming it is not too expensive. The GT 840m is a mainstream performance level GPU. You should have no problems playing the Sims 4 at full HD resolution. However, it may only be able to play Skyrim at full HD resolution using medium graphic settings at best with okay performance. AC4 is more demanding than Skyrim so you at full HD resolution you may only get okay performance with low settings.

Fairly standard mid-range laptop. 840M is really entry level gaming for laptops. 860M, 870M, and if you can afford it, the 880M. (Or SLI configurations)

Specs from nearly a year ago: $869 if I recall correctly.
Lenovo Y410p
i7-4700MQ
8 GB DDR3L
1TB 5400 RPM hard drive
GT 750M
1600x900
Wireless N
Bluetooth
Gigabit Ethernet

A decent gaming laptop will set you back a good $2000.

Additionally, it is always good to ask about a laptop before actually buying it then asking how well it can be used to play games. It is possible that someone may know of a similar laptop for a lower price or a better performing laptop for a similar price.

At the very least you would know of the GT 840m's performance prior to purchasing the laptop.

Also, none of the three games uses more than 2 cores. All games in the Assassin's Creed series have been confirmed to only use one core.
