I'd like a recommendation for an able and high performance VPN. I dont really believe in free so i am willing to pay a premium for an exceptional service.
Top priorities:
1) Speed
2) Privacy
3) Servers in several countries
4) Server reliability.
Here are three of the better resources:
https/www.vpnify.me/ Shows performance for any one of ~12 VPN providers (e.g., PIA, HMA, vypervpn, and ExpressVPN) from any one of ~10 locations (e.g., SF, NYC, Toronto, Tokyo, London) to many servers on a world map. Expand the map because the dots can overlap and change "12" to "2"! PIA (and others) sponsor the results but he claims it is unbiased. Some fine and not so fine points in the methodology are unexplained but as long as you (or your app) select the high performing servers this appears to be representative. (QUIRK: Maximizing the window in Win10 EDGE breaks the site but anything smaller works.)
https/thatoneprivacysite.net/ Also see ThatOnePrivacyGuy on Reddit. The detailed spreadsheet is cumbersome but The data is based on fairly clear claims in the vendor documentation (primarily the site). He specifically reads the fine print which often invalidates marketing claims like "no logs" on the front page (e.g., can't meter usage without some logs; or "reserve the right"). His analysis emphasizes anonymity/privacy and he's upset by irresponsible affiliate advertising. Just remember that a few providers have been caught fudging their claims: just because they say it, ....
ThatOnePrivacyGuy's reviews are often harsh, but informative. In a slightly different vein,
http/ makes thought provoking reading. The problem is not just with unsupervised, corrupt affiliate advertisers who post fake reviews to profit from 25%, 50%, or even 100% of your first payment. Sometimes it is the company itself. (BTW, “TotalVPN” is one VPN operated by its parent company, “PSEUDiO Ltd” which also operates “Incognito VPN” and “SaferWeb VPN”.)
https
/torrentfreak.com/vpn-anonymous-review-160220/ TorrentFreak's annual update of 12 question survey with vendor responses. (Order is meaningless.)
I hope others will chime in with good resources, especially for comparative performance.
