I have a Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop and have been experiencing a problem lately. While sitting idle, I'm using between 0% and 2% CPU, but almost 50% of my RAM at any time. Is this normal? What could be causing this? Thank you.
remember some of your physical RAM is used for the OS (Kernal memory) which means that there is less physical RAM available. I assure if it running at 20%-40% then there are no problems. If it reassures you right now just on the internet 2GB of my 8GB RAM is being used.
you may have a lot of background/startup programs active. press windows key and 'r' then type 'msconfig', then click the startup tab, deselect all of the programs you deem unnecessary (for example tool bar safety.
how match ram do you have and what os?windows are overloaded with start up programs and servises most likeky! anyway! on windows search hit "msconfig" ,on start up uncheck everything you dont need. the same goes to servises.make sure you hide microsoft servises first.!be carefulh though, not everithing shoud be stopped!

If you still think that you have somehow less memory to run your programs especially memory intensive then maybe it's time you consider going for a memory upgrade. Btw, Toshiba Satellite L755 supports upto 8GB of memory using 2 4GB modules.
