Would you care to borrow my T2 Squeeze THX LD (PILF-2555) for your
testing?

Hi Kraig!

It would be great! I let you know if I don't get a copy for myself. I
hope to beginn this test before the end of the year. I need to get the
new computer, my friend's vastly modded HLX-X9, Kurtis modded X9 and I
will ask a friend here in Sweden if we can use his CLD-97. I rather
take the time to do this 100% right.

Now, can I have more suggestions about LD's and scenes (a lot of
noise, much color, etc) that is hard for laserdisc to do right, so I
can take the pictures from those.

Yes Matthias.

I have a collection of PAL P/S LaserVision from the beginning of the
1980'es, of which I would gladly lend you these two:

Escape From New York.
The Wind in the Willows

These are so noisy that I doubt any player are able to get anything useful
from it.

Unfortunately, I don't think that the X0 and X9 can play PAL LDs.

LDs made from HiDef video material. Some are squeezed but if you use
an anamorphic disc in your tests, doesn't this add a whole lot of
extra variables ? E-mail me (address above is not read, instead go
through the links on my pages below).

You're correct. It is an NTSC-only player.

Much color? How about Dick Tracy?

Well. No big deal. Thanks BTW.

Mattias.
Interesting frames on the Video Essential LaserDisc, which is in NTSC:

Chapter 15, frame 46619 and 46622.

>The Fifth Element DVD is very well liked in terms of it's quality, my SuperBit
version looks fantastic, is the laserdisc as good?>

The above post is a terrific example of the kind of idiocy that Steve G.
has been desperately trying to trademark here in the NG. He claims to be aware
of the DVD format's superior capability relative to the dearly departed LD
format, but still wonders if a lower resolution non anamorphically enhanced
chroma noise plagued composite color compromised LD presented via S-Video can
somehow compete with the Superbit DVD of The Fifth Element, a DVD whose
"regular bit" release was considered "reference" quality. With every inane
post, Steve G. proves that: A schwenke by any other name is still a
schwenke.......

I do not follow "LD developments." As the poster pointed out, the
format is dead. If anything, I follow the lack of development in the LD
foreverists. It can be quite amusing and worth a look now and again.

>I can't see the logic in coming here and insulting people.>

Dear Kevin

Hello. I believe that misguided opinions found in inarticulate
posts are far more insulting to their authors than my responses and/or "takes."
How many times have I called posters here liars, bigots, or other
epithets unrelated to the context of posting in this NG or an absurd devotion
to LD or other outdated technology?
I have even defended the activity of posting here as opposed to
hypocritical accusations suggesting that the people that post here have mental,
personality, and/or social problems.
I admit that I do not suffer fools lightly, but as weIl as I dish
it out, I can take it. I have never killfiled anyone and have never asked
anyone to stop posting here........although I have considered asking Steve G.
to limit his posts to 100 a day. :)

Best wishes,
Kraig

>Anyone who is as disinterested in Laserdisc and as disgusted with those of us
who still choose to enjoy the format as Kraig is doesn't really have any reason
to be posting here.>

Bold, inaccurate, and irrelevant words from our constantly yipping LD
tenderfoot. Though it is obviously beyond Steve's ability to comprehend my
reasons for posting here, including my passion for content rather than format
and huge investment in the LD format, I will trudge on with the most
independent and original voice in this NG.
I believe that even those who disagree with my opinions and how I
articulate them prefer my participation in this NG to Steve's pathetic hug
seeking telethon for the lonely and dimwitted.

I have to say you are lying here. I am that above named person. You are a
broken record, how can you claim originality?

I am independent. I called just about everyone in here a snobby prick. My jokes
are so funnyI have been voted funniest person in many newsgroups. Ask over in
alt.video.tape-trading.

*LOL*

I find all of your statements in this thread personal and highly irrelevant.

Again, you have maliciously twisited the meaning of my post in order to create
a point of attack. This is the kind of disingenuious bullshit that has won you
so much dislike among those of us who choose not to resort to what is little
more than blatant lying in order to feel superior. I was wondering if the Fifth
Element Laserdisc was considered as good among laserdiscs as the DVD is
considered among other DVDs. If you cannot find the implied meaning in these
simple statements, you should refrain from reading them.

Really? Is that why you've been killfiled by multiple other members, yet I have
not? You're a self serving nit-wit, a liar and a complete and utter annoyance.
Nobody enjoys your posts, except for maybe on the level that we enjoy seeing
what kind of grammar school idiocy you'll next attempt.

Give it time, leg humper. I believe your newbie/LDer
wannabe/schwenke-esque posts are already testing the patience of your new
"friends" in the group.

Isn't it a requirement that posters own at least 10 LDs before they
start speaking for the entire alt.video.laserdisc NG?
