Hot key combinations for hp pavilion laptop

what is the hot key combo to use an external monitor on a HP Pavillian dv8000.
I have no display and want to see if an external monitor will work.

Aren't there markings on your laptop's keyboard, an icon or text indicating that the key is for activating an external display? You usually hold down Fn then press that key to switch between your laptop's screen and whatever's connected to your gadget.
