Hi all,
So I just purchased a LG Blu Ray Home theater system.
At the moment I am able to connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI cable so that I can watch movies, YouTube , music etc. through the TV from my laptop.
What I would like to know is, is it possible to still do this while receiving the sound through my home theater system speakers??
TV and HT receiver have HDMI inputs.
The only way I can see this working is if I purchase RCA cables to go from HT receiver to TV for sound and HDMI cable from laptop to TV for video??
Any help would be appreciated

Solution
it didn't work on my laptop as i tried it when i first moved to hawaii and my desktop wasn't here yet....but i know it works on my moms...so its a coin toss. i hope it does cause i know how hard you have worked to get this up and running (both of us for that matter)

Sorry to keep on with this. You have been a big help this far, but I have come up with 2 other options.
What if I connect laptop to TV via HDMI for picture,
Disable HDMI sound on laptop and plug rca Into Blu ray receiver with headphone jack end plugged into laptop therefore sound will bypass the TV and go straight from laptop to Blu ray receiver?

Or
Buy 3.5mm headphone jack cable both ends, one end into laptop and one end into receiver?

Only reason I suggest that is because previously I have had laptop to TV via HDMI but disabled the HDMI sound on the laptop and enabled sound through headphones. So essentially I was watching the laptop on my tv but listening to the audio via headphones from laptop.

Ok so I tried it. I get audio from laptop to Blu ray via rca in Blu ray and 3.5mm jack into laptop. However once I switch the tv back into HDMI mode to view the laptop screen the audio stops playing from Blu ray aux.
Basically I have sound but not video....

Update: success!!! I didn't disable HDMI audio on laptop now I got video and audio working properly!!!

Thank u so much for ur help couldn't done it without u
