Hi

Remove mains & battery
See if hard drive is easily accessible see if it is pushed home.
Consider removing and testing in a PC or via a USB to sata tray or connector

Get a bootable cd or DVD put in DVD drive
See it laptop boots from cd/DVD

Read user guide on how to get into bios on you Toshiba
Often F8 or F12. Gets into boot menu giving choice of boot from hard disk , DVD , USB devices, network etc

Reason for entering bios is to check if hard disk is detected
If not either dead or because screws left out previously resulting in hard drive not pushed home on sata or pata connectors
