how do i connect my lg tv to my onkyo amplifier

i have an new lg smart tv and a onkyo amplifier, I have run the hdmi from the tv to the tv point in the back of the onkyo amp, selected TV on the amp but I have no sound, how do I get this to work ?

What audio out ports available on tv, and what audio in on the amp? Check the manuals for both.

Without model numbers we can't give you an exact answer.
If both the TV and receiver have ARC and you used the ARC input on the TV then you would have to activate ARC in the TV menu to get it working.
If they don't both have ARC then you would use whatever audio output the TV has, optical is the most common. to get audio to the receiver. Check the receiver manual for how to set up the inputs.
The manual is your friend even if finding info is a pain.
