how do I get my android tablet to turn on again. It seems over dead.

It was working fine yesterday. I got a 3 line statement:
Power off
Sound on
I have forgotten the third

I pressed the on/off button but there was no response. I press ed the button again for about 1-2 mins and the message went. The screen went blank. I have been unable to restart the tablet since then.
