HOW DO I GET my LG cell phone to ring or vibtate on calls or notifications

there is a star icon at top of screen next to wi- fi bars I don't know how or why it got there but phone stopped ringing for calls or notifications.

I saw that too. It means priority notification. If you go into the submenu it does not notify for incoming calls by default but you can select to notify for incoming calls. This fixed my phone ringing problem.

Pull down at star. Toggle keys appear. Click Sound which switches to vibrate. Click on star to priority or no symbol for no interruptions or once again to bell for all interruptions.
