How do i get sound on my TV from an HDMI cable connected to my laptop

Hi Everyone,,,I cannot get sound on my Panasonic TV from an HDMI cable attached to my HP Laptop which is around 3 years old. Can anyone help, Thanks to all who reply.

right click on the volume icon in the system tray and select playback devices - from that window, select your TV.
