How do I hook up my M9C max 4k box to my laptop?

I have an HDMI port on my laptop, but when I plug it in, there's no prompt. I have been told it would actually be easier to use, but I have seen nothing to prove this.

Laptops don't have HDMI inputs (they do have HDMI outputs).
There is no way to use your laptop screen with an Android TV box.
You will need a TV or monitor with HDMI.
