How do I hook up speakers with black red wires to hd tv

I have a 32" LCD Element TV and a set of speakers with old wire cables from a Colby stereo and a set similar of Sony any way to hook up cheaply with out a new stereo? And by wire cables I mean the pos. Neg. Type

Cannot hookup speakers directly to TV because it needs to be amplified. Must do TV ---> Stereo ---> Speakers.

TV Must have audio output port marked LINE OUT/HEADPHONE OUT/EXT. SPKRS/AUDIO OUT etc.

You can use a small power amp that won't cost as much as a stereo receiver.
