how do i log in to my laptop when i have forgotten the password?? and yes it IS possible to forget

I have a Lenovo laptop...not sure what kind, but I DID forget my password because a) I am extremely forgetful, and b) because I barely ever use it as much as others might use theirs. So my question is...IS there any other way to recover my password without taking it to a repair store or w/e?
