How do I reset my ASUS laptop?

Whenever I log into my account, the screen is entirely black and I can't figure out how to fix it. I thought resetting it would help, but I can't even get to the Windows panel to go reset it. Is there any way to fix this?

I don't know much about windows but did you try holding the power button down or just let it die and boot it back up
