How do I stop a movie from recording?

I programmed to record a movie. Being new, I selected "First Run", not
knowing I could select "this show". Now everytime the movie comes on, it
gets recorded. I have tried looking through the menus, but haven't found
anything yet. The only solutions I can think of and haven't tried are:
Deleting the recorded shows and stopping the recording when it starts again.
The movie comes on again at 7:00PM, so that will be my first attempt.

It seems the replay should be smart enough to only record a show once. If I
select a movie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, even if it shows 10 times, it
should only record it once. "Revelations" shows on several different
channels. If I select "First Run" and it records episode 6, it shouldn't
record another episode 6 from another channel. Am I right or is this a pipe
dream?

I am slowly learning this thing. I love it, my wife hates it for now.

Thanks,

Danny

If all you wanted was that single showing, you can delete the Replay
channel after watching the show.

Note that "first run" done NOT mean "record once". It checks a flag
that's sent with the guide. Apparently, all the showings are being
identified as "first run".

It will record once (and avoid duplicates) as long as:

* The previous recording is still present. If you delete that, the
Replay has no way of knowing that it's been there. I often wish this
was otherwise, but it isn't.

* There is an episode title present. This is necessary so you can get
all episodes of a show that has no episode titles.

* The episode titles are the same. Note that there is also an (hidden
except in DVArchive) indicator of multi-part episodes. Each part is
considered different.

Maybe from lack of familiarity.

If you were able to select "first run", then you created a Replay
Channel. It will ONLY record at the time and channel specified, but it
will look at the time period before and after to see if your show has
moved for subsequent shows. If you ONLY want to record the movie once,
you should have specified "this show only" instead of first run. You
created a channel designed to record an episodic show each week. With
the channel you created, if it recorded the movie, it would NOT record
the same movie again unless you deleted the movie. A Replay Channel will
not record dupes. If you deleted the show and no longer wish it to
record, simply delete the channel.

You are very confused. If you selected "first run" it is a Replay
Channel and will not record dupes and will not record from any other
channel or time of day other than what was set originally. If you set up
a Theme Channel, it will record ALL occurrences of the show on ALL
channels. That is the purpose of a Theme Channel.

Within a Replay channel you can specify certain days. In the instance of
Revelations or some of the shows on TLC or SCI FI for example, show XXX
might be on Mon at 9 and repeated Fri at 9. A Replay channel will record
BOTH only IF you watch it and delete it before Fri comes along. If you
don't want this to happen, go under advanced settings in the Replay
Channel and uncheck the box for Friday.

You have Theme Channels and Replay Channels all screwed up. You should
read the addendum to the manual for V5.1 software where it explains the
difference in the channels.

a/ If you have watched the movie and don't want to keep it, simply
delete the Replay Channel.
b /If you do want to keep the show but delete the channel, copy it to
DVArchive first.
c/ If the movie is scheduled to play again soon, delete the recording
and the channel and set it up anew selecting "this show only" and
re-record it.
First Run means "not a repeat" as would be indicated in the listing on
the major network shows. If the listing indicates that it's a repeat
then it won't record. However, if you've recorded an episode and saved
it and there is a description in the listing, it will not be recorded
again as long as the listing description matches an episode you still
have. Once you delete it, it would be "new" again. For example, if you
record Kojak on Sunday night and don't erase it all week then you'll
only have recorded it once even though they repeat the episode several
times during the week without a "Repeat" indicator. However, if you
erase it Monday morning you'll record it again if it's on Monday night.

1. Go to Replay guide
2. Using the Arrow keys, move the highlight to the Movie's Channel (not the
movie itself). The movie's record options are listed instead of the
movie's description.
3. Press 'Select'
4. The 'Change record options' selection should be highlighted.
5. Press 'Select'.
6. Apparently, 'First run episodes' is highlighted in your setup.
7. Press the Right or Left Arrow button until 'This show only' is
highlighted.
8. Press the Up or Down Arrow button to highlight 'Done'.
9. Press 'Select'.

Just delete the replay channel that has it.

In the future, here's the easy way to record a one-time show: find it in
the channel guide or via "Find Shows", move your cursor to the one you
want, and press the red dot (record button) once. A single red dot will
show up next to that show in the guide.

If it's a double-dot, it will record that show, plus future shows. Not
useful for movies.

That would delete the show that he wants to keep. He just wants to stop
recording over it.

It won't if that program has already been preserved, with the "keep
until I delete" option from the Replay show (not Replay channel) menu
or copying to DVArchive.

Select the channel (left most column) and change recording parameters
(settings) to "This show only"? (I don't know if that's possible and
can't easily test it from here)

I was wrong, I can easily test it from here, That works, just change
the recording settings to "This show only"
