i got a [alcatroz xcrafthp7000]head set and my laptop is windows 10 TravelMate P248-MG. i have a crappy built in mic and my headset mic. i tried googling and checking out some previously answered questions in this website but i can find none.

Problem: My built-in mic and my head set mic is not separated. so when i talk in discord or ts, it takes audio from both my built-in mic and my head set mic.

I Tried disabling the mic by going to device manager and the input output option. there is only a speaker and 1 mic option. when i disable that mic, it disables both my built-in and my headset mic. when i enable it, it enables my built-in mic and my head set mic.

I went into properties hoping i can select 2 mics but it shows up as (Realtek high definnition audio). there's nothing that i can do with my knowledge to ONLY disable my built in ic and NOT my headset mic. pls help

Just to confirm, i am not having a problem where the laptop is only using it's mic, my problem is it is taking audio from BOTH mic and cannot be separated. i am using a Acer laptop and it runs on Nvidia, if that's any help...

Solution
Sounds like while the mic on the headset is being activated, the system is not recognizing it as being there. You may want to try using a 3.5mm to USB adapter and this should allow the system to see the mic as well.

Note: Prior to this purchase, you may want to try a different headset/mic combo on the laptop and see if it recognizes that one as both, as it is possible that the headset you are using is the issue.
