Has anyone used SafeSend?

I am trying to figure out a way to reduce potentially spamming others and also wondering if encrypting emails will prevent spread of viruses/malware.

What do you use/do to make sure your emails and data is safe?

You're skirting spam there...

Use a reliable host with good security (if Telecom NZ is anything to go by, stay away from Yahoo). Using webmail instead of a local POP3 client is also a good idea, and make sure you have a solid password.

Encryption is all about stopping others reading your mail; it does nothing for malware.

Don't use the same password for other services.

Thank you for the reply! Thank you for helping me understand this better. So to protect my data I should use something like GMail or AOL instead of having it on my computer as Outlook. Why is that?

So what do you use to limit the potential for spamming? What do you use to limit the possibility of spreading a virus/malware to others?

Well, I'm using a very uncommon browser (Opera 12.16, with the built in IMAP client) on an uncommon OS (Kubuntu 14.04). Beyond there, not opening strange attachments is the main thing.

The person behind the keyboard is usually the most important factor.
