How do you take A battery out of a laptop

Lots of people say I need to take the battery out of my laptop then put it in then hold power button for 30 secs but how do I take the battery out??

Depends on the model. In some, there's a piece of plastic that you can slide sideways, then the battery lifts out from the underside. In others, you have to open the whole thing up.

Why do you need to hard reset it?

Some batteries on new models are built-in, like Someone Somewhere mentioned, and can't be easily removed. What is the model of laptop you have, and how long have you had it?
