How Hard to Upgrade my Laptop?

So at first of the year I planned to buy a new Laptop but I go to upgrade laptops?t to thinking ..... is it hard to upgrade laptops? (specifically Alienware) If I can, I would want to go up on RAM, Video (maybe 2x Nvidia), CPU. I don't know about this sort of stuff, would I come out better to buy a new one instead? I basically would want to bring my Alienware up to current ones if it can be done.

What info do you need to see what can maybe be done?

only the RAM can be change on laptop, some very special very high end models can change the video card.

well laptop in general are impossible to upgrade, you can but to parts that are compatible with what you already have so its very limited

Welcome to the world of laptops. The reason why laptops are not upgrade-able is because most of the parts are soldered to the motherboard. Soldering keeps down the weight and size of components so manufacturers can put them in very small chassis.

Buying a upgradable laptop for $4500 because you want the upgradability isn't that good of an investment. Your much better off buying a $1500-$2000 laptop now then in the next 2 years buy a new $2000 laptop which will probably run circles around the laptops of today.

Only way you can upgrade it is if it has a MXM slot for the GPU.
