What is the make and model of your device and which version of Android does it run? The procedure varies fro one to the other.

That's Android Lollipop, famous for being the flavour that makes it really difficult to make proper use of an SdCard.

I can be done but it requires rooting the phone and that comes with possibilities of wrecking it completely at worst, breaking your contract with your service provider and invalidating your Warranty.

If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, maybe the store where you bought it might be friendly enough to do it for you.
