The fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is one of the neatest new features in the phone. While it is following in Apple’s footsteps, it is also a welcome addition. It not only keeps your phone secure, it also speeds up access to certain apps. If more than one person uses the phone, you can add their fingerprint too. Let’s see how to add multiple fingerprints to the Galaxy S7.
Setting up fingerprints
You get the option to set up fingerprint identification when you first set up the Galaxy S7. If you didn’t do it then, you can do it now.
1. Navigate to Settings and then Lock screen and security.
2. Select Fingerprints.
3. Enter your PIN or password to unlock.
4. Select Add fingerprint.
5. You need to place your finger on the Home key and follow the on-screen instructions.
Set up multiple fingerprints on the S7
By default, the Galaxy S7 allows you to store four fingerprints. Whether you store four of your own for ease of use or allow others to use your phone, it is completely up to you. Here’s how to set up multiple fingerprints.
1. Navigate to Settings and then Lock screen and security.
2. Select Fingerprints.
3. Enter your PIN or password to unlock.
4. Tap ‘Fingerprint 1, or 2 (the generic already entered name).
5. Add a descriptive name and follow the instructions as above to add a print.
It might also be useful to enable Web sign-in while you’re here. Then you can use your fingerprint to automatically log into websites. A very useful feature!
