Solved! How to connect home theater speakers - PC

Hi all,

I have 3 speakers (+1 subwoofer) that i'd like to connect to my PC, but i don't have anyway to amplify them since i have only the speakers. Each speaker is marked has 100W (except the front speaker which has 200W) and the subwoofer is marked 400W. How can i connect all of them in my PC?

Can you pass on a link to all the components you have at hand? If you don't have an amplifier/receiver to connect to the PC, you're going to have to source one, assuming that the speakers are meant to be connected to an amplifier or a control hub.

Even if you connect them to the PC, it won't really do much good without any amplification. PC speakers are powered, yours are just speakers. You'll get some sound but it would be very low, like hardly audible. You can buy cheap, mini amps on amazon but you're going to need something.

Sounds to me you already know the answer, u need a 4-channels amplifier, and since these speakers are on beefy side, 25watt el-cheapo amp will make them sound sad.

Yes i know i need a amp to thoose speakers i just don't know how much watts i should get (im planing to buy a home cinema, the cheaper the better)

The el cheapo amps actually have some decent options out there with reasonable quality. The downside, most of the ones I know of are only 2-channel. But if you're going to want a subwoofer and a center channel, you'll need a 4.1 or 5.1 system and probably cost about $100 and up.

You might want to consider looking for a used amp/receiver somewhere online.

Knowing the speaker brand and models would help. They may be low quality and you would be better off just getting a full setup including speakers. So you are planning to use these for a general home theater for a TV as well as share with the computer? Need some details about what your plans are, budget, what you have, what the setup is or will be. Surround sound for a computer setup is a bit blah for me, most of the time there is really no space to mount the rear speakers at a computer desk. You would be better off with a dedicated $100 set of computer speakers and then a home theater setup for the TV (or even a soundbar). There are quite a few nice used PC speakers on craigslist at big discounts. I have seen speakers that were originally 2-300 with $50 prices.
