how to connect mic to a combo jack

how do Iconnect a mic mic to a combo jack? Just mic not a headset. Preferaby a mic that doen't need power from the computer.

Do not understand your "combo jack" reference.

Usually a basic simple microphone just plugs into a 1/8" (3.5mm) female port on the motherboard, the sound card, or a speaker/speaker control box.

The color pink is normally used to indicate a microphone port.

And you have to or may have to go into audio controls and select the microphone for use.
