I removed my hard drive from my laptop and put it into an enclosure to put into my pc but it continues to tell me it is disabled and can not be enabled. I am a novice at this so go easy on me. Thanks in advance.

ok let start with what make and model laptop is it. what make and model drive is it, what make and model enclosure is it, and what make and model pc are you tryinig to use it with.

My laptop is a Asus U50A and the PC is a Compaq Presario both having windows 7. I put the hard drive in a Dynex 2.5" USB 3.0 HDD enclosure. I know the hard drive was a hitachi model but I will have to get back to you on the actual model. I am sorry for being so vague but I did not myself put it into the enclosure so I am gonig to wait and have someone else take it out to give me the exact model. My apologies for being such a novice.

In the meantime, I assume you still have the drive. Connect it to the system and bring up device manager and see if the drive is there listed with a yellow or red icon by it. If it is there like that Right click on it and select enable.

Click on the Windows 7 Start button.
Type the following command in the search box and then hit the Enter key:
devmgmt.msc
