how to extend the battery life of a proline AK888-15 tablet android 4.1 jell bean

Hi everyone
I just recently got a proline AK888-15 tablet on android 4:1 jelly bean as a birthday gift and i'm finding the battery life very bad,it generally goes frm full to almost dead in about an hour or less of full usage

Can anyone help with this???

The usual Android tips. Turn off anything your not using: Bluetooth, wireless, GPS, Google Location services, location and google search, Dim the display some, close unused but running apps if they aren't closing themselves.

I haven't upgraded to JB yet because it uses more juice than ICS.
