I right click but the "properties" word does not show up. what should I do to find date of pic?

Where does this file exist? On your PC? Or online somewhere?

And the 'date' on a jpeg probably means little.

Not necessarily. If I take a pic with my camera, open it in any editing application, and Save As...That is a new file, and the 'date' has nothing to do with when it was taken in the camera.

It appears as though "Properties" is missing from the context menu when the OP right clicks on the image.
What do you see when you right click on the image?
