how to fix Copy-Paste in MS Word

In MS Word 2000, copy-paste takes a full 5 minutes to paste 1 short word. I use WordPad - it pastes immediately.
I have Win 7, 8 G Ram. What other info do you need?

First thing is uninstall and re-install the program and make sure it's on the latest patches available for it.

Normally we use Ctrl+V for the paste. Use Ctrl+Alt+V instead of Ctrl+V. You will get the different paste option. Choose Unformatted Text option to paste the text quickly.
