[citation][nom]eddieroolz[/nom]Hopefully Microsoft will learn from this and standardize their update procedure, much like Apple does. In fact, Microsoft should be an expert in this field.[/citation]
This isn't an official launch, this is users bludging the system to get it pre-release.

I've been trying to get updated since sept 27th at 12:01 am, and this worked for me on the first try. Thanks!!!!

worked for me, but I had to go to WPCentral to clarify that you do not briefly turn off your wifi, rather you tun it off until you see the Update Available" screen; then you turn the wifi back on and proceed with the Update.

I had to update my Zune software to the latest and then after a few tries...success!!! I have an HTC 7 Mozart and currently downloading update 7720, can't wait for it to finish

updating to Mango as we speak. Thanks for the tip! I'm slowly converting my android friends to the idea of WP.

[citation][nom]lpedraja2002[/nom]I want to do this but I'm kinda afraid to do it. What's the difference in waiting for the service provider (In my case Claro P.R.) to update the phone and doing it this way? This is my first smartphone and I'm kind of afraid I'll be left without service If I update my phone "unofficially". Also, my phone is the LG E900 Optimus 7.[/citation]

Well I went ahead and did it since I couldn't wait XD

The "trick" was so easy I was wondering how the hell some people could mess it up, I seriously got the update notification on the first try! The rest was done automatically, though I think I got only 1 update before the mango one, not sure as I was browsing the web while the phone was updating. So far so good, Mango is definitely faster and more responsive, the best thing I've used so far is the new Internet Explorer, it's incredibly fast! Twice as fast as the previous if not more! I played Puzzle Quest 2 a little bit and it's definitely much smoother than before, not twice as fast but it certainly gained a few fps to make the gameplay better. I noticed a little change in details which I don't quite like yet, like some of the icons on the tiles look bigger and to me kind of ugly. I noticed the cool folding tile animation that happens whenever you click a tile is now faster, which may take away the awe effect of the cool animation. The XboxLive interface is now as fast as it can be though I don't like the background, it's now white and boring unlike before it was green and had some design in the background which to me was more visually appealing.

Now I don't know if it's me since I've only had the update for less than an hour and maybe it's late but the color of the tiles don't seem quite as vivid as before? Maybe like the toned down the color saturation by 10% ? Maybe it's me I don't know, but my previous tile color was Red and I thin I noticed a little less vividness in the color, so I decided to change it to Mango color! Now don't know about the mangoes in the U.S. but the Mangoes here in Puerto Rico have a very rich yellowy almost kind of orange color, then again the screen of my phone is LCD so maybe that's why I see it more like a a mix of light brown + orange color.

I like the improvement on Bing, the Contact list, the installed apps list, the messaging list etc. Too many new features to write about!

One thing I'm still trying to find out is how to do the multitasking thing lol.

This is my follow up with some useful information for households with more than one WP7! I also got it on the first try with my phone, the t-mobile HD7. My girl's phone (same) would not work until I switched to different computer than the one I used for mine (I tried running ccleaner, changing the Zune software to her user account, and rebooting all to no avail). I switched to another PC and it worked first time. My cousin got his HD7 to work the first time but forgot to plug his internet back in so it failed and it wouldn't work again until we switched to another PC. I also know I need to call t-mobile (or use website) and add the free visual voicemail feature. Mango is awesome! Hope this help everyone!

Okay, so i found something to make it way easier...and 99% you'll get it on your first try. You will have to have your volume on. First step, unplug your phone. 2nd, go to device in the settings or it might say phone. Go to update tab, notice that it will say plug a device in. Step 3, plug your device back in and as soon as you hear that windows sound that lets you know you have plugged in a device, disconnect from the internet immediately. step 4, get back on the internet and update your phone! :)

I didn't look through this whole thread but 2 tips if you are not being successful. #1 I put my phone in Airplane mode and #2 be sure you use a wired connection and not wifi to your lap top or PC. I could never get it to work by disconnecting the wifi as i don't think the link was disconnecting fast enough and when I tried it with a wired connection I had success the 1st time. I'm using a HTC Trophy

LIES, ALL LIES!!!! I HAVE AN HD7S WITH ATT IN USA, DOESN'T WORK. I NEVER HAVE WANTED A MANGO AS BAD AS I WANT THIS ONE. DAMN YOU MICROSOFT

Worked like a charm on HTC arrive, thanks for the tip only wish I would have gotten impatient sooner :)
