How to get 60fps in minecraft on laptop?

I'm using a laptop with an i7-4510u, 12GB of RAM, 840m, and a 64 bit processor. I am struggling to run minecraft at 60fps. I have seen the game run decently even on worse computers, does anyone have any advice?

Depends on the settings and mods if any you are running. Check your CPU and GPU usage when running the game, Minecraft is pretty tough on the CPU.
