How to install acoustic treatment panels in an asymmetric ..

I need to put up several block-type and shutter-type foam acoustic
panels in my new control room--and this has to look nice.
Unfortunately, the shape of the wall is no rectangle thanks to poor
carpentry. The floorboard is pretty straight across, AFAIK, but the
ceiling starts off straight, right to left, then slopes upwards a
little over half-way across.

This is exaggerating the slope wildly, but this is basically it...there
are also doors on both sides with their hinges also belying any kind of
optical trick I use on the installation, both the hinges are 68" from
the floor.

This could be a blessing in disguise, of sorts, since parallel surfaces in a
studio are less than an optimal situation.. Have you *listened* to what's
happening in the room yet? Your treatments may be very different and perhaps
far less expensive than would be necessary if you were trying to treat a
symmetrical rectangular box.

Jack,

You need more than that if you ever hope to ge the low end right.

An angled ceiling is good, but the correct arrangement has the height
increase from the front toward the rear. Same for the side walls - if they
angle at all, the angle should flare to make the room wider in the rear.

See the Acoustics FAQ, second in the list on my Articles page:
