how to know what to buy in laptop

How do I know how many gb, memory when buying new laptop? I want it for browzing, facebook, e-mail and shopping, printing recipes and i want window xp and not a real high price? also windows

yours question is really strange. When you buy it shows on the paper how many RAMs, HDD it has.
For normal using i3 fits perfectly. You don't need more than 4 or 6 GB of RAMs. You don't need GPU too, only integrated (like intel hd 3000). For HDD it depends on your usage, but 500 or 750 GB just for this usage is enough.
