How to know whether the laptop is 2nd or 3rd generation ??

my friend recommended me a laptop of LENOVO with i3 processor 3rd gen but i am not sure whether it is 2nd or 3rd gen . how can i know whether it is of which gen?

i3 - 2xxx is 2nd Gen, i3 - 3xxx is 3rd gen.
