How to listen?

I'm confused about how to listen to music. We have both Apple and Android products. Would like a Bluetooth speaker to connect to devices but do I also need receiver?

Many ways but....

These days self-powered bluetooth speakers seem popular, its needs nothing else, they are self-contained, run on battery or wall plug, you pair it once, that's it. Very simple.

You may want to look into a bluetooth enabled sound bar if you want to listen from them where you have a TV, kill two birds with one stone. Better sound from the TV, and you can play music from the portable devices also on the same speaker.
