Hi,

I'm having scratchy fan noises and trying to fix it but still too afraid to force the clip on the image and break it

Any ideas?

Try cleaning the fan out with a compressed air duster first. If you're lucky it's just some dust stuck in a place that makes the fan wobble a bit or scrape against something.
Looking at that image, it seems like the lock on the bottom of the image is one supposed to be unlocked first as it's designed as a latch. Using something like a small screw driver for the latch. The top ones looks like they're made to slide out once it's unlocked at the bottom. If it's plastic, make sure not to force anything too hard as it'll most likely break. Don't use tools with sharp edges either.

Canned compressed air is your best friend
small clips up top surface of the fan :2 visible on the picture at 10 and 7 o clock, and probably some more at least one on the side not visible on your picture, with flat non sharp tool and slight pressure to the inside you can disengage those small clips one by one (very fragile clips)
