How to Order Food from a Smartphone

If your stomach is rumbling, all you need is a smartphone to order a quick bite to eat. It used to be that to order food, you would have to look up a restaurant's phone number and call them. Now you have many options. Here are a few ways to order food from your smartphone:

1. Old school- There is always the old school method. Tap your browser icon to open up your browser. Search for the restaurant you want to order from, tap to go to their site, look over the menu, and then call them to order.

2. Restaurant apps- There’s apps for almost everything, and food ordering is no exception. There are apps that allow you to peruse a variety of restaurants and their menus, place your order, pay for it, and have it delivered or go pick it up. A couple of examples are Snapfinger, Grub Hub, and Order Pizza. Search the Play Store or App Store, download the app, then tap to open. Search for your restaurant and then follow instructions for order placement and payment.

3. Restaurant-specific apps- There are also apps available from big-name chains like Taco Bell, which just released their own app just a few weeks ago. Download the app, open it, and follow instructions for ordering and payment.

4. In-restaurant- Some restaurants use QikServe, which has you go to the restaurant and sit down. Rather than wait for a waiter, it allows you to check in, order, and pay right from the app, and it even sends your order to the kitchen. Download the app and open it when you get to your participating restaurant.
