Question How to remove activation lock on a lost/erased iphone

I bought a iPhone 5s in 2013 off eBay but I was unable to get it to work because of the activation lock. I recently found it and would like to try to use it and give it to my son. I contacted Apple but they refused to unlock it. Is there any ways I can try to unlock it?
