How to Root Galaxy Tab 2

Hello Guys!

I'm using Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 I wanted to know "How to Root it Without Any Damage". A friend o mine told me to not Root it as it could damage my Tab. I'll be thankful if someone suggests me proper method

Why you need to root your 'tab? What applications you are going to run on it which need root access?
Having your 'tab would make it more vulnerable to malicous software you might not know you're installing.
