How to set up Separate mic and headphones with only one combined jack on my laptop

I have a pair of skull candy headphones with no mic, and a Seperate microphone, will I be able to get them to both work with an audio splitter? My mic only has a combined audio and mic jack.

I recommend going with a USB adapter that has a mic and headphone jack combo, it will incur a lot less headaches. Can be found for $5-10, usually on newegg or amazon.
