how do you transfer data from a dead computer to a new one?

You may temporarily connect the HDD of your dead computer to the motherboard of your new computer and then transfer all the Data from old HDD to new HDD.

If it's a recent laptop, the hard drive should be a sata interface, same as desktop. can just remove & plug into you desktop using same cables as normal & transfer data. if it's an older ide interface drive, try something along the lines of http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812196219 , although that seems alittle pricey for what it is - try looking on ebay for one, should be able to get for half that price & possibly free delivery
