Earlier on in May this year, Netflix announced that it would be beefing up its parental controls, thus enabling parents more restrictive controls on the kind of content their offspring watch and have access to. In this article, we will walk you through setting up control parameters, which will allow you to decide what your children can and cannot watch.
Step 1: Go to www.netflix.com
Then log in using the account holder’s username and password. Depending on the country you are in, there may also be an option to log in via Facebook, however, it must be the account payer’s information that is used to log in, otherwise Netflix will deny you access.
Step 2: Select “Your Account”
Once logged in, then go to the far right hand corner on the Netflix screen and click on the drop-down arrow then select 'Your Account'. Other options available under “Your Account” will include “Manage Profiles”, “Help Centre” as well as “Sign out of Netflix” but you will only click on the “Your Account” link.
Step 3: Enter PIN
Once logged into ‘Your Account’, all your account information (membership, billing and plan details, settings, gifts and offers, etc.) will be on display. Then go to ‘Settings’ then click on parental controls’. If it is your first time, Netflix will ask you to enter the account holder’s log in password. Once the password is successfully entered, you will be prompted to enter a four-digit PIN code before you can continue. Once the PIN code is entered, on the screen, four types of viewers will appear; allowing you to control and restrict viewing with the PIN code.
Step 4: Remember to ‘Save Your Settings’
Once you have set up the restrictions, remember to click on the ‘save’ button, which will be on the right hand side from the PIN code box. Also, remember to keep the PIN code a secret as younger viewers who know it, may use it to change the restriction settings. Netflix will send you an email every time your restriction settings are changed.
