how to turn wifi on without button

i have windows 7 on my laptop and everything was till this morning....
i shut down the computer and started it back later but in the network notification area it is not showing any wifi networks instead showing a computer icon with a red "X"
and it says wireless is nt enabled even though the wifi switch on my laptop is turned on
plss solve this

check in device manager to see if under network adapters, the wifi card has been disabled.
