How to use PCMCIA

I have an aging Acer aspire 5735 with PCMCIA slot and have just got a CF/PCMCIA card adapter for it.

Can anyone please point me to what I need to do to get this to work as it's not showing as a drive? (Good 4GB CF card in place).

You're positive your laptop has a PCMCIA card slot? All the information I can find about that model shows it having an ExpressCard/54 slot, which will be just as wide as a PCMCIA slot.

What's the submodel? It will be a hyphenated number (for example: 5735-4624)
