i need a laptop that inst to big or heavy as id like to use it for school as well. So it doesn't need to run every thing on ultra, but medium to high would be preferred.

Do you think this laptop could do the job? il play games like H1z1, league of legends, minecraft. and a few other little steam games

On the contrary, all games use HT if they support enough threads. The reason desktop i7s don't benefit is because very few games use 8 threads. That's why the desktop i3s and the laptop i5s benefit so much from HT.

As mentioned, bad reviews are typically for the screen. All Y50s have poor screens...

im in canada. I can actualy get a better deal on the i7 from the lenovo website as they have a promo on it right now. lol. The i7 comes in at 850$ were the i5 is at 900$ thank you though

If you can get the i7 version for $850, do it. That's awesome.

However, keep in mind with any Y50 you may want to replace the screen eventually. It's popular and easy enough that there are guides and tutorials for it on various gaming forums.

Just be aware of Lenovo's malware issue. Pretty unbelievable. I don't support them any more just because of this.

i havea monitor that i often hook my laptop up to as well. would that be good?

^ it is pretty common to reinstall Windows on a laptop first thing. I though most people generally did this. I always have and most people I know do. Same with a prebuilt desktop.

I thought so too, but you never know. Personally, I've never purchased anything without doing a fresh install first.
