How would this laptop treat me in medium gaming and school work?

I live in Canada so it's pretty hard to find a laptop with a reasonable price along with handling fee's

It should just fine actually. It has a good configuration based from it's CPU, GPU and RAM. You should be able to play new games from 50-60 FPS I would say.
