I would not call that prospect more promising unless you're speaking of increased attacks, loss of data, malfunctioning devices, device failures, etc. IoT is a huge joke and will not make things better. Most of what the geniuses want to hook up as IoT can be just as easily controlled as stand alone, unconnected devices.
