hp 2000 shut down

i have a problem child here it's a

Processor a Main Circuit Board b
2.40 gigahertz Intel Core i5-2430M
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Hyper-threaded (4 total) Board: Hewlett-Packard 1854 64.2A
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
UEFI: Insyde F.40
4gb ram and i have a problem with it shutting off after about an hour - not overheating and i have changed processors, ram, hard drive, but it does the same. i have tried windows 7, 8.1, and 10 preview and Ubuntu. i have adjusted the power settings but it's like there is a timer. i can put it to sleep and after restart same thing. like if there is no movement of the mouse it shuts off. i know i should toss it but now it's a quest now - HELP

Check the event viewer log and see if there is a program that is crashing. Did you test this with a clean setup and it failed then or did you start installing programs on it before testing?

yes clean installs each time i'll chk event viewer again but so far nothing listing a problem

what stands out in viewer is low power state

Is this happening when it's plugged in? Try a different charger and try running it without the battery. A battery issue will cause the system to shut down or at least try to go to hibernate. If hibernate is turned off, it will shut down.

the battery is no good thinking that the sensor reads low battery and shuts off - what ya think?

unfortunately, yes still the same

Try a clean Windows setup to make sure it's not a software issue? Try different RAM? After those you'd have to look into larger system issues, motherboard, CPU, video card (which really means motherboard also).
